A new teaching qualification for English language teachers

Knowledge of theoretical and practical skills increases teachers' confidence, improves their teaching and provides access to higher-level teaching awards and professional support materials.

TKT

- A new certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Teachers taking TKT need a minimum level of English at level B1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework.

Flexible and accessible for teachers from all backgrounds

The test provides teachers with a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom.

Teachers who then want to explore these areas in more depth can progress to awards such as Cambridge ESOL's CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) or Trinity College London's Certificate TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

A modular approach to testing

TKT's three modules can be taken together in one exam session or separately. Each module consists of a test of 80 questions to select the correct answer.
