"Second Brilliance in Uruguay Awards Ceremony"

World Trade Center Auditorium, Montevideo - 18:00hs

The Second Brilliance in Uruguay Ceremony was held on 5th June at the World Trade Centre Auditorium. We were very happy and proud to have Mr Guy Lane, CIE Director and Ms Litty Mora Regional Representative for South America. Unfortunately, the British Ambassador Mr Patrick Mullee, was unable to come as he had a previous engagement. He did send a lovely message which was read by Ms Litty Mora. 14 students received CIE Awards. This shows the hard work and perseverance of these students who, out of 367 students sitting for IGCSE exams, were the best. Congratulations to them and their teachers!

Then there was a musical show. 4 students from St Brendan’s School danced a musical arrangement of Scottish and Irish dances. They were really excellent. Two bagpipers from City of Montevideo Pipe Band played a tune which was very interesting. Then, Valentín Corbo from Instituto Uruguayo Argentino, played 5 tunes on his violin. He is really an amazing violinist and everyone was thrilled with his performance. I am sure he will go far!

And finally a wonderful surprise. Stella, our own Stella Bessio accompanied on the organ by Alejandro Giacconne sang a tango, “Volver”, in honour of our foreign visitor, Mr Guy Lane. Stella has a beautiful voice, but it is not just her voice, it’s the way she delivers a song, her joy, the message she gives through her song… It was magnificent. You cannot imagine the expression on the faces of the audience. Here is a clear example that it is not the message, it is the messenger that matters. Congratulations Stella!
